Ponying Your Horse

For anyone interested in learning more about ponying as a training and conditioning technique, check out Lynn Palm’s 2 part series titled: “Working in Hand – Ponying Your Horse”, in the last two issues of Horse Digest.

Lynn says that ponying is often an overlooked technique. She goes on to explain that ponying simply means leading one horse from another horse, on which you are mounted.

In her first article Lynn gives us a lesson on how to, Prepare for Ponying, Getting the Lead Horse and the Pony Horse Comfortable,   and Ponying at the Walk. In her second article she leads us through the steps to Ponying at the Trot and Backing.
