“¨Sioux Falls, S.D., April 30, 2014 ““ The Minnehaha 4-H Horse Council is hosting an open horse show fundraiser on Saturday May 3, 2014 at the Expo Building on the W.H. Lyons Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls. The “Shaggy Show” will begin at 9:00 am and is open to all ages, breeds and disciplines. The entry fee is $15 per horse/rider pair; with a $50 maximum per family for the day.  The show will be held rain or shine in the expo building at the fairgrounds. Gates will open at 7:00 am with registration beginning at 8:00 am.    “We think this is a great opportunity for kids and adults to get their shaggy horses out and “˜brush up’ for the coming show season,” said Chuck Martinell, Minnehaha 4-H Program Advisor. “This is both a great outreach opportunity for our 4-Hers to the regional horse community and a fundraiser for our horse program,” he added.  Western and English show classes; timed event and fun classes will be held.   Clipping, bathing and show clothes are not required. However, participants must wear proper riding attire and footwear and must ride with proper tack.  “Horses and riders can get together and have fun, try something new, while supporting our 4-Hers,” added Martinell. “And we have been overwhelmed by the support of our generous sponsors-who have donated many wonderful prizes and resources our event.”  The Minnehaha County 4-H Horse Program serves about 100 young people in the areas of showing, judging, hippology and quiz bowl. The funds from the “Shaggy Show” will go towards equipment, scholarships and upcoming events:
